Will the Eurovision-victory be ours?

Preparation for the renowned Eurovison Song Contest is reaching its peak in Iceland and preliminary rounds have been on TV (RÚV) for the past 3 Saturday nights. The sad thing is, that the 24 songs passing the first elimination, to the preliminary rounds, were chosen from around 200 songs admitted. And of those 24 songs, I find maybe 5 to be any good. The rest is more or less something that I wouldn't want to hear for the 2nd or 3rd time. That kind of makes you think; if those were the best of 200, how bad was the rest?

One of the rules regarding the icelandic competition (pre-rounds) is that none of the songs may have been played in public before the finals. Unfortunately, the song performed by Silvía Nótt accidentally (or not) found it's way on the internet, starting a great debate whether or not it should be allowed to enter the competition. In my opinion, her song is near to our only chance of getting any attention from other countries, or at least one of few songs making it possible to leave with our heads up high, regardless of the number of votes we get. The melody may not be that special, but Silvía's performance on stage (and the lyrics are funny, though only in Icelandic as it is) is extremely amusing.
